Wait.
And yet it’s the hardest thing to do.
As humans, we’re hardwired to take action – any action.
To do a task so you can check something off a to-do list.
It feels good to complete a task.
You’ve moved the ball forward a little.
But in trading, you very often get paid to NOT do anything.
Wait for a real setup rather than squinting hard enough to force one now.
Wait for an already profitable trade to become even more profitable.
Wait so you can collect more data to fully understand if your strategy has edge.
Wait to gain more experience before increasing your position size in a new strategy.
Wait just to ponder an idea with no deadline in mind.
Doing nothing IS an action.
Often the most profitable one.
My wife sent me a playlist to listen to on a recent trip.
Buried in it was this song which I couldn’t get enough of – I must have played it on repeat for an hour.
Give it a listen to be inspired to… do nothing.
